Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead design efforts, client interactions, and project management for a growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong book of business, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to supervise projects from inception through completion. This role is essential to ensuring high-quality, cost-effective designs that meet client and agency standards while fostering business growth and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute effective designs that exceed client expectations.
- Serve as the direct client interface and manage plan processing at public agencies.
- Lead marketing, business development, and the pursuit of new work. (MUST bring a book of business.)
- Oversee administrative and financial tasks, including invoicing, budget monitoring, proposals, and change orders.
- Supervise the design team’s workflow in coordination with the Sr. Project Manager, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Direct contact with agencies to supervise plan approvals, resolve design issues, and ensure compliance with agency requirements.
- Coordinate with outside consultants and internal departments for various project phases.
- Conduct site visits during construction to ensure plan conformity and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor project budgets, track billing, and manage change orders.
- Promote innovative ideas and procedures incorporating Full Circle Thinking.
- Represent the firm in meetings with clients and agencies.
- Mentor and train staff, conduct staff reviews, and ensure timely submission of timecards and project charges.
- Provide workload forecasts and communicate resource needs to Sr. Project Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise 1-5 employees within the engineering team, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, training, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.
Must Have’s:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline, with 10 years of civil engineering design experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as the central design figure for a team, including experience in mentoring and overseeing workflow.
- EIT certification required, with the expectation of obtaining PE licensure within two years.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and team-building skills.
- Ability to manage projects from start to finish.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with arms, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
- Occasionally required to lift/move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Primarily an office setting, but occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Noise level is usually quiet.
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Salary: $145,000 – $175,000
